Aug 19, 2026    Skip Norton

Genesis 16 narrates the story of Sarai (later Sarah) and Abram (later Abraham) as they struggle with infertility. Sarai, unable to bear children, offers her Egyptian maidservant, Hagar, to Abram to produce an heir. Hagar becomes pregnant, leading to tension between her and Sarai, who mistreats her out of jealousy.

Hagar flees into the wilderness but encounters an angel of the Lord, who instructs her to return and submit to Sarai. The angel also promises that Hagar's son, Ishmael, will be a great nation. The chapter highlights themes of faith, human attempts to fulfill divine promises, and the complexities of family dynamics
